the 2011 AMA's were glamorous!

Taylor SwiftWell, the AMA were fantastic this year! And yes, while the Music awards are all about the tunes, it's also time for the stars to strut their stuff with some brilliant, colorful and unusual styles. However, there was more than one fashion blunder, which every red carpet needs....
For this article, Trend Worthy will look at 4 stars and give ratings of whether they make or break the styles of 2011!

This year, glamming it up in a gold, gold Reem Acra dress was Taylor Swift. The Golden gal went out for 3 nominations, getting special mention in winning the Country Girl award! Congratulations Taylor! We rate her dress 8/10!

American Music Awards Best And Worst Dressed 2011

This is so tamed and unusual, compared to Nicki Minaj's standards of her red carpet dresses. Instead of being weird and ugly, its almost plain and ugly. One better comment was that "she looked like a blooming flower, her green dress being a wonked out stem". One thing we can say here at Trend Worthy, was that she seemed to not care of the dress, or the fact that she nearly fell out of her high heels. The pop star, walked off, thanking God and her fan's, even giving special mention to some bodyguards? I'm glad she didn't thank her fashion designer! For this year, it's a disappointing 4/10!

Katy Perry

Katy kept it simple this year with oriental Vivienne Westwood gown. Bit of a geisha theme going on with the hair? Although not the usual style picked for the red carpet, nor the best chosen dress for the cold night, we believe that it was a nice choice, because she still looked beautiful! Our score, 7/10!

Selena Gomez

Pop princess Selena Gomez walked the perfect line between elegance and sexiness, plus it didn't hurt that she arrived on the arm of her boyfrien, Justin Bieber (singing his Debut new christmas song about mistletoe)! Her Giorgio Armani gown was low cut and theatured a thigh high slit, and yet Selena was the picture of old school hollywood glamour. We rate it 8/10!

Well, there were some fantastic dresses and styles! Some made us gasp, and I know there were a few that made me want to tear the fabric right off their back! Oh how I love the Red Carpet! Enjoy the pictures, plenty more around on the internet! Dont forget to comment and fav this post!

Pales in Summer!

Helmut Lang cropped back tunicZagliani python small tomodachi bowling bag in creamLighten up as the barometer begins to drop with light workable layers in luxe finishes. Whilst resorting to ubiquitous black is almost as tempting as it is practical, it requires little thought and less fun. Sure, textural play can provide endless hours of entertainment and some exceptional looks, but save that for when the weather really turns the heat off. As we twilight trans-season take inspiration from those greyer days and choose tones like butter, beige and putty to work over time in your wardrobe. Leather, cashmere, cotton and suede all work together to lighten up layered looks that won’t let the chill in once the sun’s gone. Believe it or not, grey and suede accessories are just as if not more versatile than your noir necessities, but do yourself a favour and make friends with Scotch guard.

Pop and MM6 sleeveless blazer over a long line Chloe cashmere, and play with a Zaglioni python bag paired perfectly with Margiela’s vintage effect boot. For the warmer moments, try a lightly sorbet touched Rag and Bone shirt jacket with an Elizabeth and James leather-collared blouse and a loose pair of Alexander Wang crepe pants. The braver of you can dance dangerously on the edge of poor taste with an ironic pair of grey suede Gianvito Rossi lace up thigh highs, a Jenni Kayne putty leather pleat-front short and a crystal- collared Equipment shirt.

Procrastinator Time: Cleaning the Wardrobe

I like clothes. A lot. Like, A LOT. I like clothes so much that I am constantly cleaning out my closets (yes, I have two) to make room for new purchases. I’m aware that this is neither normal nor healthy behaviour, and my therapist and I have set aside time to work on it once we get through dealing with my daddy issues and unholy obsession with Law and Order: SVU.

I embark on a wardrobe cull every three or so months. This is not so much a seasonal thing as the general time it takes me to decided I hate everything I own. It usually starts with a niggling feeling about one particular item – a bag purchased on impulse, a pair of uncomfortable shoes – but before long I am questioning everything I have ever bought. And once the little voices in my head start nagging me, it is only a matter of time before the floor of my bedroom is covered in clothes. And bags. And shoes. And jewellery.

I am actually in the middle of a cull right now. If you could see into my house you would think it had recently been the scene of some sort of natural disaster that only affects clothing and accessories. Then again if you could see into my house right now I’d wonder why the hell you were looking into my house, you pervert.

Anyway, once my cupboards and drawers are empty, everything is divided into four piles: KEEP, SELL, SHARE, and BURN. The KEEP pile gets redistributed throughout my closets (again, YES, I have two); the SELL pile is dropped off at various consignment stores in the hope that my trash may be treasured by others; the SHARE pile is offered up as sartorial bribery to my nearest and dearest; and the BURN pile is dropped off at my local Vinnies.

But deciding what must go, and indeed to where it must be sent, can be hard. Feel my pain, readers. Feel my ridiculous, consumerist, spoiled brat pain.

And so I created the mini-questionnaire below to help me sort the raff from the riff. I create mini-questionnaires to deal with a lot of things in life. Don’t you wish you lived inside my head?

1.    Does it still fit me?
1.5    Does it REALLY still fit me?

2.    Do I own anything else that goes with it?

3.    Do I love it more off my body than on?

4.    Does it make me feel bad about myself in any way?

5.    Do I honestly think I’ll wear it again?

6.    Would I buy it now if I saw it in a shop?

7.    Is it something I want to save for my unborn daughters who will probably tell me they hate it and then fly off on their hover boards?

8.    If I sell it will it make any money?

9.    Was I drunk when I bought it?

10.    Am I drunk now?

I ask this set of questions about every item I am on the fence about, and it generally helps me come to a decision. However, I have become pretty brutal over the years and if I am questioning something at all, I usually get rid of it. Unless I am in fact drunk, in which case I am likely to keep everything for not wanting to hurt the clothes’ feelings.

I hope this helps you in your future wardrobe meltdown moments. Let’s be honest though, it probably won’t. Happy culling, comrades!

Catwalk show turns into an engaging affair at Caulfield Cup

Nataliya Sleba and Will Kruss
AT the Chadstone Fashion Stakes, seasoned campaigners made their way from around the country to showcase the most on-trend looks for Spring Racing.
But block colours in citrus hues, marine blues and lipstick pinks were all overshadowed by a romantic wedding proposal at the conclusion of the first heat of the day.
Will Kruss, of Cheltenham, got down on one knee in front of hundreds of fashion watchers to propose to his girlfriend of 10 months, Nataliya Slebs.
Ms Slebs was clearly surprised by the impromptu announcement, but smiled and said, "Yes".
Mr Kruss said he had it all planned.
"I have had the ring for a couple of weeks, and when I knew she was competing, I thought it would make for a very unique proposal - plus I was already dressed up," he said.
Host Brodie Harper, who looked sophisticated in a Manning Cartell dress and Marilena Romeo millinery, said she was so overcome by the proposal she could barely focus on her MC duties.

Fellow competitors were also clearly stunned by the romantic gesture, loudly gasping as Mr Kruss got down on bended knee.

In a world first, young designers also competed in the inaugural Lightway Solar Design Challenge, where finalists created spring racewear incorporating solar panels, showing the link between the innovativeness of solar energy and that of fashion design.
RMIT's James Sanders won with a dress inspired by sun worship, its solar panels representing the scales of a serpent.
